A percentage of sales from every order on Saybrook Shores will be donated to Connecticut Fund for the Environment, an organization that serves to protect and preserve all of the shores and waters of Long Island Sound.

Long Island Sound serves as a home to thousands of different species of fish, mammals, birds and other wildlife. In towns like Old Saybrook, where the Connecticut rivers meets with water from the Sound, plant and animal communities thrive.

Unfortunately, Long Island Sound is being threatened by large amounts of Nitrogen pollution, coming from wastewater and fertilizer run-off.  When there is too much Nitrogen in our waters, the rapid growth of algae reduces water clarity and prevents sunlight from reaching seagrass meadows.  As algae dies, they fall to the ocean floor and decompose, using up oxygen that other organisms need to survive.  Excess Nitrogen also causes overgrowth of seaweeds that smother the ocean and wash up onto our shoreline beaches.

By purchasing a product from Saybrook Shores, you are not only contributing to a beneficial cause, but also spreading awareness to locals and non-locals about the threats to the Connecticut Shoreline.
